Who We Are

The Education Foundation of Morris Plains "funds the way forward" by supporting educational innovation in the Morris Plains School District. With your help, we enrich the possibilities for students, the community and the changing world our students will inherit.

Who We Are

The Education Foundation of Morris Plains is an all-volunteer nonprofit group. Members include citizens from many segments of the Morris Plains community—local business people, families, alumni,  alumni parents, liaisons from local groups, and more—who want to help enrich educational opportunities for all students in the Morris Plains School District. The EFMP is a 501 (c) (3) organization.

Our Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to support the highest level of educational innovation to benefit all children in the Morris Plains School District. We both draw from and help build the community's support and enthusiasm with spirit-raising events and fundraising efforts, as well as with communication that spreads the word about our excellent, future-ready school district.

How the EFMP Supports the MPSD

The Education Foundation of Morris Plains (EFMP) was founded in April 2010 and incorporated in October 2010. The EFMP was founded on a simple concept; the need to find external funding sources, such as private and corporate resources, to will allow the district to maintain and grow world-class educational opportunities for the students of Morris Plains. Teacher grant applications are accepted twice each year.

EFMP fundraising efforts have included unique events such as the annual Strides for Education 5K Run/Walk, as well as Teachers vs. Harlem Wizards basketball games, Beer & Bites craft beer and small plates tastings, A Toast to Excellence wine and cheese tastings, the Morris Plains Garden Tour, the Remarkable Homes of Morris Plains house tour and more. We actively seek outside grants and donations.

The EFMP has been able to donate more than $100,000 to the Morris Plains School District. Major projects include the state-of-the-art digital broadcast studio at Borough School; a significant upgrade of the middle school science lab; the Stories Abound in the Community of Caring book project; coding bots at both Mountain Way and Borough School; and enhancements to both Mountain Way School and Borough School iSteam labs. EFMP has also funded an Artist in Residence in global dance for second graders at Mountain Way and actively supports the district's strategic goal of enhancing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
